Southbury 2023 Election Voter Guide: Candidates, Polling Places

SOUTHBURY, CT — On Nov. 7, Southbury residents cast their votes for several key municipal positions. Contested races include: First Selectman, Selectmen, Board of Finance, Board of Assessment Appeals, Planning Commission, Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Inland Wetlands Commission, Pomperaug Valley Water Authority, and Regional Board of Education.

Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Connecticut also allows for Election Day registration at designated centers in each town. People must be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote using Election Day registration. To receive your absentee ballot, complete and sign an application and return it to your Town Clerk, or you can request an absentee ballot online.

First Selectman

The Democratic candidate is Tim O'Neil. The Republican candidate is Jeffrey Manville.

Selectman

For Selectman, you will vote for up to three candidates. The Democratic candidates are Justin Bette, Kim McNeill, and Jenn Fenn. The Republican candidates are Holly Sullivan, Greg Kuehn, and Jason Buchsbaum.

Board of Finance

For Board of Finance, you will vote for up to three candidates. The Democratic candidates are Tom Connor and Cathy De Carli. The Republican candidate is John Michaels.

Board of Finance Alternates

Republican Steven Giacomi is running unopposed.

Board of Assessment Appeals

The Democratic candidate is Diane Barros. The Republican candidate is Dennis Dwyer.

Planning Commission

For Planning Commission, you will vote for up to three candidates. The Republican candidates are Lawrence Adzima, Richard Teardo, and Robert Harrison.

Planning Commission Alternates

Republican Jason Van Stone is running unopposed.

Zoning Commission

For Zoning Commission, you will vote for up to three candidates. The Democratic candidates are Rod Ashby and Mark Lee. The Republican candidate is Susan Monteleone.

Zoning Commission Alternates

Republican Martin Ludorf is running unopposed.

Zoning Board of Appeals

For Zoning Board of Appeals, you will vote for up to three candidates. The Republican candidates are Len LaBonia and Mark Kane.

Zoning Board of Appeals Alternates

Republican Gary Garofalo is running unopposed.
