Southbury Dispatcher Files Age Discrimination Complaint: Report

The complainant has 30 years of experience as a dispatcher, 11 of which are with Southbury.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Barbara Schafer, 65, a veteran emergency dispatcher, has filed an age discrimination complaint against Southbury following a disciplinary incident against her, reports the Waterbury Republican-American.

The Southbury resident filed the complaint with the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities last month. The case is in connection with disciplinary action taken against her, for what Schafer considered to be a joke between her and another dispatcher she was training.

Schafer has 30 years of experience as a dispatcher, 11 of which are with Southbury, according to the publication. She believes she was unfairly singled out for discipline in part due to her age.
