Southbury Receives Over $1.1 Million For 2 Bridge Replacements From State DOT

CTDOT awards Southbury over $1.1M to replace Bucks Hill Road and Munn Road bridges under the Local Bridge Program.

SOUTHBURY, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation has approved more than $1.1 million for two bridge replacement projects in Southbury.

The funding, awarded in July under the State Local Bridge Program, includes $581,100 to replace the Bucks Hill Road bridge over Walnut Hill Brook and $562,250 to replace the Munn Road bridge over the same brook.

Statewide, CTDOT awarded over $17.3 million for 15 projects through the program, which was established by the General Assembly in 1984 as part of the State’s Infrastructure Renewal Program.

Connecticut has about 4,200 local bridges and culverts on locally maintained roads, with construction and maintenance overseen by the municipalities that own them. The Local Bridge Program offers financial support to towns for those responsibilities.
