Trophy Trout Fishing Area Offered to Southbury by Developers Building Movie Theater

The developers were required to give the land as part of the approval to build the property at 690 Main St. South.

The owners of the proposed Southbury Riverview Cinema and Playhouse offered the town a 12-acre parcel that is considered a trophy trout fishing area as part of their application to build a movie theater, Chris Gardner reports for the Republican-American.

The owners were required to give the parcel to the town as part of their approval to build.

According to the paper, last week the land was formally offered to the town as a conservation easement, which would protect the site from further development.

The developers were given permission to build in April by the Zoning Commission, the Inland and Wetlands Commission approved the site plan, which is now being considered by the Planning Commission, the paper reports. The Zoning Commission will have the final say on the site plan.

The location, also known as the Mark Taylor Greenway is on the North side of the Pomperaug River and cuts the movie theater property in half.
