5 Southington Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

SOUTHINGTON, CT — If you’re like many of your Southington neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends.

Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups.

Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Southington area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

• Margaret C. Griffin Child Development Center Of Southington Inc., whose mission is to provide child care to families who would not otherwise be able to afford child care.
• The Mill Foundation For Kids Inc. strives to improve the lives of children with cancer and other illnesses by giving them moments of normalcy and happiness as well as funding research aimed at curing pediatric illnesses.
• Southington Police Benevolent Association, which aims to provide benefits for fellow members in case of need due to death or illness which is job-related.
• The Friends Of The Southington Public Library Inc., strives to promote the interest in the Southington Library as a cultural and educational asset to the town.
• The Orchards At Southington Inc. aims to promote a lifestyle that allows residents to age in place while supporting independence.
