Discolored Water Possible On 62 Southington Streets This Week

Due to planned water main cleaning, water discoloration could occur in several Southington neighborhoods.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Planned water main cleaning will impact homes and buildings on about 62 Southington streets this week.

The Southington Water Department Oct. 3 announced its water main cleaning schedule that will take place starting today (Oct. 6) through Saturday, Oct. 11.

According to the water department, water customers are being asked to check the water before doing any laundry, as there will be some temporary water discoloration.

Water department officials said the listed streets will not be impacted in any particular order, and the water main cleaning is based on both weather and available staff.

"Please check water before doing laundry and excuse any temporary discoloration," wrote the Southington Water Department in a notice to customers.

"Please note that the water mains on the streets listed above will be cleaned in no particular order based on weather conditions and staff availability."
