The Town of Southington Monday urged folks to be safe during the expected heat wave this week and seek a cooling center if necessary.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local officials Monday announced hot weather protocols for the Town of Southington due to the expected heat wave this week.

The town's hot weather protocols will be in place from noon Tuesday, June 18, through noon Sunday, June 23.

Part of those protocols include the opening of town cooling centers for those in the community who need a place to cool off.

Cooling locations are as follows:

• Southington Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St., Tuesday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Southington Public Library, 255 Main St., Tuesday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Southington Police Department, 69 Lazy Lane, for all hours when the library or Calendar House is closed.

Temperatures are expected to reach well into the 90s all week long and, when combined with forecasted high humidity, it could feel much warmer.
