Obituary: Helen Jeanette Pelatowski, 91, Of Southington

Helen Jeanette Pelatowski, age 91, of Southington entered into rest on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Southington Care Center.

She was the wife of the late Gabor Nagy, Jr. and Raymond M. Pelatowski. Helen was born in Bridgeport on December 14, 1930 daughter of the late John and Helen (Hotakay) Papp. She was an elementary school teacher for Westport and West Hartford School System before becoming a Reading Counselor for over 25 years. Helen was also a longtime secretary at the University of Bridgeport. She was an active member and organist for the former Trinity Byzantine Greek Catholic Church. While in Southington, she was a choir member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Festival Choir. She and her husband enjoyed golfing together. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family.

Helen was the beloved mother of Katherine Elizabeth Jacobson and her late husband Leif Erik and Theresa A. Philman and her late husband Carl, loving grandmother of Kali Schenkman and her husband Matthew, Cameron Jacobson, Justin Philman and Jacob Philman and sister of James Papp and Albert Papp. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by two brothers, John Papp and Louis Papp and two sisters Elizabeth Mercier and Marion LaPrade.

Her funeral services were private.
