Overnight Paving/Milling This Week At Plantsville Project: Southington
Motorists are advised paving operations are ongoing in the Plantsville section of town, with work expected to be done on Thursday, Oct. 31.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — The massive redesign that is the Plantsville Safety and Streetscape Project is nearly complete, albeit a few weeks later than planned.
This week, town officials said, motorists should be aware that milling and paving in Plantsville is expected to disrupt traffic overnight through Thursday, Oct. 31.
According to Southington officials, the state Department of Transportation is requiring night-time milling and paving in the Plantsville construction project area from 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. through Thursday, Oct. 31.

The project entails a massive redesign of the roadways (area of Route 10 and West Main Street intersection) and will feature concrete pavement, drainage work, concrete sidewalks, decorative crosswalks, benches, light poles, trash receptacles, and traffic light modifications.
The hope is for improved motorist and pedestrian safety in that part of town.

The Southington Town Council in June 2023 unanimously voted to hire Paramount Construction out of Newington to oversee work on the $4.3 million project.
Originally planned for a summer completion this year, the project has extended into the fall.
