Prominent Southington Businessman Dies At 66: Chamber

He was a member of the Southington Chamber of Commerce's board of directors.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A prominent member of Southington's local business community had died.

The Southington Chamber of Commerce Monday confirmed the passing of Gilbert Wade, who was president of Southington Southington Security Services and a member of the chamber's board of directors. He was 66.

According to the chamber, Wade died on Friday afternoon.

"Many of us were just with him at the Chamber event the night before. We are all extremely blessed to have known Gil. He was a beautiful soul, kind and caring man, devoted husband and family man, loyal friend and colleague, with the most positive spirit, enthusiasm and energy," wrote the Southington Chamber of Commerce on social media Monday.

According to the chamber, Wade's dedication to the local business organization stood out among his many accomplishments.

"Gil was a strong leader on our board of directors contributing greatly to the success of the organization. We will miss him dearly," wrote the chamber.

He owned Southington Security Services, which specialized in safes, locks and locksmithing services.
