Puppy Escapes Handler Near Southington Petco, Still Missing
The Southington Animal Control Department and a regional missing dog network are seeking the public's help in finding the 4-month-old.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A family is desperately hoping for the public's help as they look to find their puppy which slipped out of a collar on Queen Street in Southington Sunday.
The Town of Southington issued a notice on the missing pup Tuesday, reposting an alert from the CT Dog Gone Recovery Volunteer Network on Monday.
According to CT Dog Gone Recovery, the 4-month-old Belgian Malinois escaped her handler in the area of the Petco store on Queen Street.

The dog is not a local dog, according to the network.
"This pup went missing when she slipped her collar. She is timid and scared. Do not try to grab her. She may bite out of fear, but not aggression," wrote the network via social media.
"For her safety please call the number on the flyer immediately if you see her. Please do not chase her or call out to her. She will just run. This is a very high traffic area. We do not want her getting scared and running into traffic."
