Road Work Prompts Detours In Plantsville: Town Manager
Southington's town manager Wednesday urged motorists to practice caution and patience while navigating multiple road construction sites.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Ongoing road reconstruction in Southington has the town's top appointed official urging caution and patience for local motorists Wednesday.
Southington Town Manager Alex Ricciardone said the work will especially impact travel in the Plantsville section of town.
As a result, he said, "multiple detours" can be expected.

Among the impacted roads, Ricciardone said, are:
• Summer Street will be closed between Cowles Avenue and West Main Street.

• Westbound traffic only on West Main Street will be allowed on West Main Street from Route 10 to Church Street.
• Eastbound traffic on West Main Street will be detoured onto Church Street, to Cowles Avenue, to Sumner Street, to West Center Street, and Bristol Street.
• Summer Street business access is available, but only from Cowles Avenue.
"I know this has not been easy, and we are pushing as hard as we can to complete this safety and traffic project on time and on budget," wrote Ricciardone via social media.
