Some Important Information For Southington's Dog Owners

The Town of Southington Tuesday started selling new and/or renewed dog licenses, with dog owners having until June 30 to avoid late fees.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The Town of Southington officially started selling dog licenses for the next fiscal year on Tuesday, but there's still plenty of time to abide by the law.

State statutes mandate that all dogs must be licensed, with Southington no exception.

In Southington, dogs that are spayed/neutered cost $8 and $19 if not spayed or neutered.

The licenses must be renewed annualy by June 30 or a $1 per month late fee for every month late will be imposed.

It should be noted that Southington zoning regulations only allow three dogs per household.

Renewing dog licenses can be done online via this link or in person at the town clerk's office at Southington Town Hall, 75 Main St.

Rabies clinic

Meanwhile, on Saturday, June 14, the town is hosting a special rabies vaccination clinic from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Calendar House Senior/Community Center, 388 Pleasant St., Southington.

Vaccinations are cash only and cost $20 per shot.

During this event, staff members from the town clerk's office will be on hand to sell dog licenses and license renewals.

For this event, dog licenses are by cash or check (no credit cards).
