Stuff Accumulating At Home In Southington? Here's How You Can Dump It
Starting this Saturday, Jan. 7, the Southington Bulky Waste Transfer Station will be open, weather permitting.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — It's a new year and, now, there's a new schedule for locals to abide by if they need to dump off their bulky waste that may have accumulated on their property.
Starting this Saturday, Jan. 7, the Southington Bulky Waste Transfer Station will be open, weather permitting.
The facility, located at 617 Old Turnpike Road in the Plantsville section of Southington, is open select Saturdays all year round from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There, residents and local business owners, can dump various types of waste such as logs, sticks, demolition material, furniture, mowers, piping, bicycles, household electronics, mattresses, etc.
The Southington Town Council was updated about the new schedule at its December meeting.

Councilman Michael Del Santo, chairman of the council's public works committee, said information and hours are available online on the town's website.
"So folks can access that and they'll know when the transfer station is open," said Del Santo.
In January, the bulky waste facility is open twice, Jan. 7 and Jan. 21.
In February, it is also open twice that month on Feb. 4 and Feb. 18.
From March through November, it is open either three or four times a month, according to the new schedule.
