The Town of Southington is the place to be when it comes to both celebrating the holidays and helping the less fortunate this time of year.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Looking for something to do that is all about the Yuletide spirit?
The Town of Southington has a good place to start.
From the ongoing Christmas light switch-flipping contest to toy/food drives, Santa Claus meet-and-greets, and festivals of all sorts, Southington may as well be in the North Police.

So if you're looking to help the less fortunate or enjoy some Christmas revelry yourself, visit the Town of Southington's website for a handy dandy guide toward those ends.
So far, Southington is planning the following events:

- Nov. 1-Dec. 1: "Light up the Green" Contest
- Dec. 1: SFD Santa Meet & Greet and Toy Drive
- Dec. 1: Santa's Jolly Holiday
- Dec. 6: Bright Lights Christmas Festival
- Dec. 13: Christmas in the Village
- Ending Dec. 13: SFD Holiday Toy Drive
Meanwhile, the Southington Chamber of Commerce is organizing its participation in the Valentine's Toy Express, which is currently accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys at participating locations in town.
Their bus will make a final collection on Friday, Dec, 6.
All toys donated will stay within the community courtesy of Southington Community Services.
