Southington Issues Emergency Parking Ban
The parking ban will last over a period of two days due to the snow/rain storm hitting the state on Tuesday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington police issued an emergency parking ban Tuesday through Wednesday morning due to the snow/sleet/rain storm hitting the state.
According to the Southington Police Department, the ban goes into effect at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 2, and will continue through Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 6 a.m.
As a result, police said, all on-street parking is prohibited.

Police also reminded residents of the town's snow-related ordinances that are currently in effect.

• The Southington Chief of Police or his designee may terminate street parking on any or all streets of the Town of Southington during a snowstorm or other emergency. Illegal parking could lead to the vehicle being ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.
• It shall be unlawful from Nov. 15 to April 15 for the owner or operator of a vehicle to allow such vehicle to stand or park on any street in Southington for more than an hour between midnight and 6 a.m. on any given day.
• Sidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours after the accumulation of snow, and ice shall be covered with sand or other substance within three hours after the accumulation of ice.
• No owner, tenant, occupant, or other individual shall throw or cause to be blown by machine or other implement snow into the right-of-way or sidewalks in the Town of Southington. Cul-de-sac residents shall be subject to consideration of the difficulties of snow removal in such areas.
• A person violates statutes for failure to remove accumulated snow and ice from a motor vehicle, including the roof, hood, and trunk.
