Southington Mourns Death Of Beloved Teacher
The veteran educator was with the Southington School System for three decades.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — The local board of education recently paid tribute to a veteran educator who died last May.
The Southington Board of Education at its last meeting, June 26, honored the memory of long-time special education teacher Teresa Ciotti Giammatteo, who died May 26 at the age of 94.
Giammatteo worked for three decades in Southington schools in special education, starting in 1965 and retiring in 1995.

"She was a special ed educator," said Southington Board of Education Chairperson Colleen Clark. "She was with us for 30 years."
A native of New Rochelle, N.Y., Ciammatteo eventually became a longtime Southington resident.

A graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School, she graduated from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain prior to her three decades working in Southington schools.
