Southington To Open Shelters For Heat Wave
The town Tuesday will open up the local senior center, library and police station for folks to keep cool if they can't do so at home.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — The summer's first major heat wave is expected this week and Southington officials announced Monday that they're taking action.
As a result, the town is opening up multipile "cooling centers" where folks who don't have air conditioning can seek a little relief from the heat this week starting Tuesday.
Forecasts are calling for temperatures to go into the 90s for the duration of the week, with humidity levels expected to make it feel, even, hotter.
