Southington Opens Warming Centers For Cold

Southington's cold-weather protocols mirror the state's, which end on Monday, Jan. 22.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local officials Wednesday announced the implementation of cold weather protocols through Monday, Jan. 22, to keep folks safe in Southington.

Southington Emergency Management Director Alex J. Ricciardone wrote the town's protocols started Wednesday afternoon and will continue to noon on Monday, Jan. 22, mirroring the state's protocols as authorized by Gov. Ned Lamont.

As a result, the following warming centers are now open in Southington during that duration:

• Southington Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St., Wednesday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Southington Public Library, 255 Main St., Wednesday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Southington Police Department, 69 Lazy Lane, during all hours when the library and Calendar House are closed.

Those needing emergency warmth are asked to utilize those sites.
