Southington Community Servant Dies
He had served on the Southington Town Council, Southington Board of Education and the Southington Police Commission.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A longtime community servant who has represented Southington on behalf of both the community and its children has died.
The Southington Town Council Monday was notified of the recent passing of Nicholas DePaola, 86, who died on Dec. 1.
According to DePaola's online obituary, he had served on the Southington Town Council, Southington Board of Education and the Southington Police Commission.

Councilman Christopher Palmieri notified fellow board members Monday of DePaola's death.
"We lost another member of our community," Palmieri said. "So its just a great lost for the community, our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

Southington Town Council Chairperson Victoria Triano served with DePaola and said a special moment of silence will be observed at the next council meeting in his honor.
"I served with Nick and, absolutely, we have lost a great man," she said.
DePaola was born in Waterbury, but he settled down in Southington in the Plantsville section of town.
