Southington Taxpayers Brace For New Property Valuations

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Property owners can expect to get important notices in the coming days regarding their properties' new assessed values associated with the ongoing revaluation.

According to the Town of Southington, the town's revaluation vendor, Municipal Valuation Services, is sending preliminary revaluation notices to Southington property owners on or near Friday, Nov. 21, via mail.

Property owners should receive their notice within the next several days, wrote the town this week.

There will be information in the notice about the prior assessed value, the preliminary new assessed value, and information on how to register for an informal hearing should the revaluation be challenged.

Revaluation is required by state statutes to be done every five years, with Southington's last revaluation happening in 2020.

Taxpayers are asked to avoid calling or visiting the assessor's office to schedule an appointment or ask questions.

They must contact Municipal Valuation directly. Appointments for an informal hearing can only be made through the web at www.munival.com/appointments or by calling 203-292-5500.
