Tap Your Toes At Southington Band's Annual Spring Concert

The Southington Symphonic Band is hosting its annual spring show on Monday, March 31, at Southington High School.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Folks are invited to finish up March and start spring with a toe-tapping good time with the Southington Symphonic Band.

The local band will present its annual spring concert on Monday, March 31, at 7 p.m. in the Southington High School auditorium, 72 Pleasant St.

No tickets are necessary, but donations will be accepted.

The band is planning to perform several selections, including: the march from “1941” by John Williams; selections from Second Suite in F by Gustav Holst; The Seal Lullaby; Elsa’s Procession; and Sailing With Whales.

The Southington Symphonic Band, directed by former SHS band director Jeff Shaw, was established in January 2023.

Its members include former SHS band members and band parents, local music teachers, and players from Southington and neighboring communities.

Musicians, high school age or older, who play a band instrument are welcome to join the
Southington Symphonic Band.

There are openings in all sections.

Rehearsals will resume on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the SHS band room in April for the early summer concert.

The group performs four or five concerts a year, and players can start after each concert cycle.
