11 Stamford Teens Arrested on Robbery, Assault Charges
The Stamford Police Youth Bureau made the arrests in the last 3 days.
During the past three days the Stamford Police Youth Bureau has made 11 arrests in connection with four separate incidents including a robbery and three assaults. In another case, a student was arrested after he was found to have five marijuana cigarettes in class.
According to police, the Youth Bureau arrested five Stamford youths who were involved in a knife point robbery which occurred at the skate park at Scalzi Park on Oct. 19. The five youths surrounded two juvenile victims and brandished a knife. At that point, several youths assaulted the victims and stole several items from them. One victim suffered a severe chipped tooth in the attack, police said. All five were arrested on robbery, assault, larceny and conspiracy charges and taken to the Bridgeport Juvenile Center, police said.
In a separate incident, three Stamford High School students were arrested for the Nov. 5 attack in which the boys assaulted a female student, police said. The teens held the girl by her arms and another male for no reason kicked her in her stomach, police said. She reported the and investigators found the attack was captured on security cameras which led to the identification and arrest of the youths, police said.

On Nov. 20, a police officer suffered a head injury as he chased a female who was involved in a fight outside Stamford High School. Two female juveniles, who do not attend SHS, were involved in a physical altercation, police said. One was arrested at the scene and another took off running onto Prospect Street. The unidentified officer lost his footing before taking the female into custody, and struck his head on the pavement.
Police said that during the incident a 77-year-old woman who was walking nearby was startled by the fracas and she tripped and fell as she attempted to get away from the situation. Both the officer and the woman were treated at Stamford Hospital. Both teenage girls were charged with Assault and Breach of Peace charges.

On Nov. 21, a 16-year-old Stamford High student was attending Saturday school when an instructor noticed a smell of marijuana emanating from a student. “An investigation determined that the student was under the influence of marijuana, he possessed five rolled Marijuana cigarettes, and had several unidentified prescription pills on his person,” police said. He was arrested for marijuana charges and released to custody of his parent.
Police said Youth Bureau is one of the busiest units in the department. Last year the Youth Bureau made 508 arrests of juveniles on charges of homicide, sexual assault, robbery, assault, gun possession, narcotics possession, domestic abuse upon parents, and larcenies.
