6 Stamford Teens Face Burglary, Larceny Charges
The Westhill HS students are accused of burglarizing one North Stamford home several times this past summer.
Six students from Westhill High School are facing burglary and larceny charges in connection with a series of summer burglaries of a North Stamford home while the resident was vacationing.
Stamford Police Juvenile Division in conjuction with the department’s Burglary Squad arrested the suspects on Wednesday in connection with the thefts at a residence on South Lake Drive in and around the month of July, according to police.
In July, the homeowner called the Stamford Police that he believed that his residence has been broken into on several occasions while he was away for the summer. “The homeowner had evidence that youths had been occupying his home, using his pool, drinking alcohol and eating food from the residence. He also reported that approximately $6,600 worth of property had been stolen from the residence. Items such as laptops, cameras, sports memorabilia and clothing had all been taken from the residence,” police said in a statement.

The homeowner also supplied video from one of the burglaries which clearly showed a black male and a white male on camera stealing items from the residence and placing them in a duffle bag, police said. Police said they received several tips identifying two possible suspects after the video was released to media.
Police said that about the same time officers recovered items from a dumpster that several witnesses observed a a black male and a white male throwing items into and those two suspects matched the suspects from the video.

“Using several investigative tools and the use of the SPD Westhill SRO’s we were able to positively identify those two seen on camera and implicate four more involved in this prolonged burglary,” police said.
On Dec. 9, the police arrested of six Stamford youths who are 16 and 17 years old and attend Westhill High School, police said. All of the teens were charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and conspiracy. All were processed and released to their parents.
Police said, “This was an effective investigation using investigators from the Burglary and Youth Bureau Offices to bring closure to a homeowner who was helpless to protect his home from these culprits.”
