Anesthesiologist Sues Stamford Hospital After Firing

The federal lawsuit reportedly accuses the hospital, staff of sexual discrimination, retaliation.

STAMFORD, CT - A former Stamford Hospital anesthesiologist reportedly has filed a federal lawsuit against the facility and department heads with claims of sexual discrimination and retaliation.

Samantha Jansson, an anesthesiologist with 30 years of experience, claims she was terminated by the hospital in 2014 after she expressed concerns about the qualifications of younger colleagues, safety issues as well what she believed was sexist behavior towards her and female colleagues on the part of hospital department heads, according to the Connecticut Law Tribune.

Jansson claims she was fired by the hospital after a reorganization that would have assigned the cardiac anesthesiologist to other departments including obstetrics and pediatrics and that she did not have sufficient experience in those areas — a claim she disputes, according to the Connecticut Law Tribune story that can be found here.
