If you're strolling through downtown Stamford looking to shake things up a bit, there's a new restaurant in town from the owners of Greenwich's Doppio.
Louis and Joseph Barresi and Tom Pescuma opened the doors to Barrique Tuesday evening for the first time to what Louis considered a great success.
"It went very well," he said. "We just opened the doors and got a great crowd all night. We're excited for how smoothly everything went."
The restaurant, which staffs about 20 people, specializes in Southern French cuisine. Barresi said the return to Stamford was particularly exciting for him as he grew up in the town.
"I'm happy to be an additive to the town and look forward to doing business here," he said. "I'm happy to be back in my hometown community."
Barrique opens at noon and the kitchen operates until 11 p.m., though the doors stay open until 2 a.m. It's located at 188 Bedford Street, right on the Southwest corner at the intersection of Spring Street.
