UPDATE: Stamford Police Identify Contents of Suspicious Package
Police were called after a package was found at the entrance to the Armed Forcces Recruitment Center.

Update: 12:25 p.m.
It was a holiday deed by a group of Stamford elementary school students that produced an unexpected reaction by the package’s recipients on Tuesday.
The Stamford Police bomb squad responded to the Armed Forces Recruitment Center at 1096 High Ridge Rd. after 9 a.m. when recruiters found what they believed was a suspicious package in the doorway.

The package was x-rayed and it determined the box was filled with candy, letters and cards that students from Stillwater Elementary School had dropped off to thank military personnel for their service, Stamford Police told The Advocate.
Originally, the package was described as a ‘potential explosive.’

A “potential explosive” was located near a U.S. Navy recruitment center on High Ridge Road in Stamford about 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Stamford Police said they discovered a suspicious package near the center in a plaza, that has caused the shut down on the southbound side of High Ridge Road, according to WFSB.
