Butler’s No-Hitter Leads Stamford 15U Cobras over New Fairfield

It is Thomas Butler's second no-hitter of 2016 in Babe Ruth League play.

The Stamford 15U Cobras defeated New Fairfield Blue 9-0 at Cubetta Stadium in Babe Ruth Summer Travel play behind a stellar, complete game no-hitter by Thomas Butler, who struck out 16 opposing batters while surrendering two walks. It is Butler’s second no-hitter of 2016 in Babe Ruth League play.

The Stamford Cobra’s offense was paced by Michael Cardona, Dan D’Andrea Jr., Drew Papp and Thomas Butler, who each contributed two hits while Jason Tifford got on base three times, drawing two walks, plus a base hit. Rounding out the hitting for the Cobras were Michael Berlingo, Yeury Dilone and Matthew Mogrovejo, who each had a hit. Noah Fuchs led Stamford in runs scored with two.

It was a strong bounce back from a defeat on Saturday that went down to the final inning when Watertown 15U Xtreme overcame the Cobras 12-9.

In that game, Dan D’Andrea continued his hitting ways, going 2-2 with a homerun. John Alcantara and Noah Fuchs each recorded a triple. Fuchs would hit a double as well, along with Yeury Dilone and Mike Mohen.
