Cars Struck By Gunfire At Stamford Park, Police Ask Public For Help

"This is something that certainly gives us great concern," Stamford Assistant Police Chief Richard Conklin said.

STAMFORD, CT — Three cars were struck by gunfire in Scalzi Park on Aug. 23, according to police, who are asking for the public's help in finding more information.

Gunshots were reported shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday near the first parking lot on the right hand side off the Bridge Street entrance, Stamford Assistant Police Chief Richard Conklin told Patch.

"This is something that certainly gives us great concern due to the fact that just before 8 p.m., it's a very lively park," Conklin said, noting the often-active volleyball, tennis and bocce courts, as well as other gatherings and activities that take place at the park on a daily basis. "There are a lot of families out there, so we were very lucky that no one was injured."
