STAMFORD, CT — Thousands of residents are still without power following Tropical Storm Isaias' path through Stamford, and the state, Tuesday afternoon.
In a statement released Wednesday, Stamford officials said city crews are working with Eversource to clear debris and restore service to residents who lost power during the storm.
According to Eversource's outage map, over 8,000 Stamford residents are still without power as of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

In light of this, the city will open a charging station Thursday at Westhill High School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., during which time residents can charge their devices. While Eversource will begin restoring power soon, residents are still advised to plan for "multiple days" without power, officials said.
During the storm, roughly 144 roads in Stamford were closed due to downed wires or trees, officials said. City crews are coordinating with Eversource to prioritize public safety and clear all debris or downed wires.

Residents with storm debris on their property are encouraged to dispose of it at the city's transfer station on Harborview Avenue. The station is open Monday-Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and residents can typically dispose of up to 200 pounds per day.
Officials said residents are now permitted to dispose of excess storm debris at no additional charge until Aug. 15.
"This service is only available to Stamford residents, not commercial vehicles or entities," city officials said in a statement. "Stamford's transfer station staff have discretion to turn away any waste that is not storm debris or appears to have originated out of town."
