Committee Accepts Stamford Teachers Contract Proposal

The Board of Representatives Personnel Committee voted not to reject the two-year pact.

The Board of Representative’s Personnel Committee voted this week to accept a new contract with the Stamford teachers union.

Five of the committee’s eight members voted not to reject the two-year agreement that was reached during a marathon contract talk session between the Stamford Education Association and the Board of Education, according to The Advocate. One committee member abstained.

Teachers would receive a maximum 1.50 percent raise in 2016 with a 2.25 percent raise in 2017. The contract also extends the current health plan for a year before changing to a high deductible plan.
