Why are you seeking this office?
I am a dedicated leader and community advocate running for State Representative in the 148th State House District. Raised in Stamford, I have deep roots in our community and a profound understanding of local issues. As a local attorney and member of the Board of Representatives since 2016, I bring my skills and experience in lawmaking and community service. As a local lawmaker, I have supported efforts to bring automated speed cameras to our schools, regulate the use of single-use carryout bags, and have been a staunch advocate of affordable housing.
What do you believe is the No. 1 issue facing Connecticut, and how do you plan to address it?
I am committed to addressing the pressing issue of reducing the costs of living for our community. I understand the financial challenges that many of our residents face, from housing affordability to everyday expenses. As a member of the Board of Representatives, I have consistently voted to bring more affordable housing to Stamford, while also implementing policies that promote economic stability and affordability. I have and continue to be committed to finding innovative solutions that improve the quality of life for all residents and ensure our community remains a place where everyone can afford to live, work, and prosper.
There have been an alarming number of deaths on Connecticut's roadways. Is there anything from a legislative standpoint that can be done to address that?
I am dedicated to prioritizing road safety as a critical component of our community's well-being. Ensuring safe streets and highways is not just a matter of policy for me; it's a personal commitment to protecting the lives of our residents and visitors. Notably, I spearheaded Stamford’s efforts to place automated speeding cameras in front of our schools, ensuring the safety of our teachers, students, and faculty.
I advocate for robust infrastructure improvements, including well-maintained roads, sidewalks, and bike lanes, in order to enhance safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike. I support comprehensive traffic management strategies, investment in public transportation, public awareness campaigns on safe driving practices, and stringent enforcement of traffic laws.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
The major difference is my nearly ten years of experience in public service, which has equipped me with a deep understanding of our community's needs and a proven ability to drive effective change. My track record demonstrates my commitment to delivering results for our constituents.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
As a lawyer and seasoned City Representative with nearly ten years of successful service, I possess a unique blend of qualities that I believe will make me a highly effective State Representative. My legal background has equipped me with a deep understanding of legislative processes, constitutional law, and policy analysis—essential skills for drafting, interpreting, and advocating for sound legislation at the state level. Having served as a member of the Board of Representatives, I bring extensive experience in local governance and community leadership.
During my tenure, I have consistently demonstrated a commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and responsive representation. I have collaborated with colleagues across party lines to address critical issues such as infrastructure development, public safety enhancements, and sustainable economic growth. These experiences have honed my ability to navigate complex challenges and deliver tangible results for my constituents.
One of my strengths lies in my ability to engage with and listen to diverse perspectives within our community. I prioritize constituent feedback, ensuring that their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed in legislative decision-making. This approach has been pivotal in my efforts to foster inclusive governance and build consensus on important issues affecting our city.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
Above all else, I hold myself to the highest levels of ethical standards and have advocated for greater transparency and accountability in our elected officials. I am committed to fostering a culture of integrity within our government, ensuring that decisions are made with fairness, impartiality, and equality for everyone, regardless of their race, place of origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religion.
