Edgehill Rehabilitation Awarded by U.S. News & World Report
Ranked among best in the country for short-term rehabilitation and long-term care

The health center at Edgehill, Stamford’s premier continuing care retirement community (CCRC), has again been recognized by U.S. News & World Report among the best in the nation for short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. This year, the magazine rated Edgehill as “high performing” in both categories, its highest possible designation. Just nine percent of the facilities in Connecticut and seven percent nationwide earned that distinction. This is the eighth time since 2016 that Edgehill’s health center has been named to the list.
Edgehill offers residents and the greater community comprehensive rehabilitation and skilled nursing services in a spa-like atmosphere. Services provided by dedicated care teams include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cardiovascular services, orthopedic services, and wound care.
“Our goal goes far beyond recovery—we want those who come to Edgehill’s health center to thrive,” said Edgehill Healthcare Administrator Chris Massaro. “This recognition from U.S. News & World Report reflects the skill and dedication of a team that is committed to helping our residents live the fullest lives possible.”

U.S. News & World Report’s ratings analyze resident care, safety and outcomes. These ratings account for the consistency of registered nurse staffing, the use of antipsychotic drugs, and success in preventing emergency room and hospital visits. Short-term rehabilitation assesses the prevention of falls and serious infections, and residents’ ability to return home, while long-term care further evaluates a center’s ownership and weekend staffing levels. The ratings are determined using data submitted by the community to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Edgehill maintains a five-star rating, the highest possible, from CMS.
Compared to other centers in the region, nurse and physical therapist staffing at Edgehill is significantly higher than statewide and national averages. Furthermore, 70% of short-term rehabilitation residents are able to return home after discharge, far exceeding statewide and national rates, and none of the long-term care residents showed signs of depression, compared with 13-percent across the state and 10-percent nationally.
