Elderly Stamford Pedestrian Fatally Injured After Being Struck by SUV

The Sunday night accident occurred on High Ridge Road.

Stamford Police are seeking witnesses to a Sunday night accident in which an 81-year-old city resident was struck and killed by a SUV as they crossed High Ridge Road while using a walker, police said.

The victim, a resident of the Wormser Congregate Housing complex on Vine Road, was crossing High Ridge at Vine at 8:24 p.m. Sunday when they were struck by a southbound a 2005 BMW X5 that was being operated by a 43-year-old Stamford resident, according to The Advocate.

Police said their initial investigation shows that it did not appear speed was a factor and that the driver had the green light, according to the report that can be found here.
