Elementary Teacher Charged With 12 Counts Of Sex Assault: Stamford PD

Police said 12 female students "disclosed that they were inappropriately touched by a male teacher within the school."

STAMFORD, CT — An elementary school teacher has been charged with 12 counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and 12 counts of risk of injury, according to Stamford police.

Andrew Park was given a $175,000 bond. On Friday, the Stamford Police Department Family Services Unit executed a search and seizure warrant at a Fillow Street residence in Norwalk, police said.

"The search stemmed from a lengthy investigation pertaining to 12 juvenile victims reporting inappropriate touching by a male teacher," police said in a news release. "All these victims were female students."

On Friday, Feb. 23, the Department of Children and Families (DCF) notified police of the allegations which prompted their investigation, police said.

"We have been in contact with the Stamford Public Schools superintendent’s office throughout this investigation," police said.

"During the investigation, investigators learned 12 female students at Strawberry Hill Elementary School disclosed that they were inappropriately touched by a male teacher within the school," police said. "Each of the students engaged in a forensic interview in which they disclosed details of their encounters."

Park is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, April 8.

"This investigation is still ongoing pending additional victims and the results from the searched items. I would like to praise Investigator Festa and the other investigators who spent countless hours investigating the details of this case," said Capt. Eugene Dohmann and Lt. Jerry Junes in a prepared statement.
