Ex-Stamford Cop Pleads Not Guilty in Larceny Case

The former officer is accused of taking an exotic vacation with a girlfriend when he was paid to take military leave with the Army Reserves

The former Stamford Police officer who resigned in December before the could fire him, pleaded not guilty to first-degree larceny.

Donald Chen made the plea during a proceeding in the Stamford courthouse on Monday, according to The Advocate.

Chen is accused of taking a paid military leave to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves in early December when he actually taking a Hawaiian vacation with his girlfriend.

Chen initially was the subject of a missing person investigation after the Army contacted Stamford Police to report he had not reported for reserve duty.

After Stamford Police learned that Chen, who told them he was in Taiwan caring for his ailing father, was vacationing, the officer quit the force after 20 months of service.
