The project is expected to take four to five weeks to complete.

STAMFORD, CT — Exit numbers along the Merritt Parkway will soon change.

Beginning on Monday, July 28, work will begin to update the exit numbers to a mile-based system from the New York state line to the Wilbur Cross Parkway.

For example, in Stamford, Den Road Exit 33 will become Exit 8; Long Ridge Road Exit 34 will become Exit 9; and High Ridge Road Exit 35 will become Exit 10 - and so on.

According to the CT Department of Transportation, the mile-based system allows for uniformity with other states; helps drivers quickly determine distances to destinations; improves reporting of highway incidents, resulting in better navigation for emergency services; and makes it easier to add future exits without renumbering the entire corridor.

More information on the project, including an interactive map, can be found on the CT DOT website.
