Former Charter Communications HQ Sells For $72 Million

Real estate company CBRE announced the sale of 400 Atlantic St. on Tuesday.

STAMFORD, CT — CBRE, a commercial real estate services and investment firm, announced on Tuesday the $72 million sale of the former Charter Communications headquarters located at 400 Atlantic St. in Stamford.

According to a news release, CBRE represented the seller Spectrum Stamford, LLC, and also procured the buyer, a partnership between George Comfort & Sons and AVG partners.

The 508,043 square-foot office tower became available following Charter's completion of their new 875,000 square-foot, two building campus at 400 Washington Blvd. which opened last year.

The 30 percent leased, 14-story train-centric former HQ is located on the southeast corner of Atlantic Street and Tresser Boulevard in the heart of the Stamford central business district, near the Stamford Train Station, restaurants and new residential developments.

"Stamford has transformed from a predominantly FIRE (finance, insurance, real estate) sector economy, to be a much more industry diversified with 89 percent of Stamford’s top 25 employers being in other sectors," said CBRE Chairman Jeffrey Dunne in a news release. "This diverse employment base, along with the best 24/7 living environment north of Manhattan, continues to make Stamford the business capital of Connecticut. These dynamics provide an attractive market for the purchaser to be successful in the repositioning of 400 Atlantic St."
