Free Mental Health First Aid Training To Be Offered In Stamford

The training teaches participants how to identify and respond to common mental health issues in children and adolescents.

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Youth Mental Health Alliance will offer a free, in-person mental health training session on May 30 aimed at helping adults better support young people facing mental health challenges. The training is part of Mental Health Awareness Month.

The one-day Youth Mental Health First Aid course is designed for parents, educators, coaches and others who work closely with youth. It will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Park 215, located at 215 Stillwater Ave. in Stamford. Lunch will be provided.

The training teaches participants how to identify and respond to common mental health issues in children and adolescents.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the second leading cause of death among teens and young adults. As mental health concerns among youth continue to grow, community-based efforts to expand access to resources and support are becoming increasingly important.

The event is sponsored by the Stamford Youth Mental Health Alliance, a network of more than 35 local organizations focused on improving mental health services for young people. The alliance works to increase understanding, accessibility and inclusivity in youth mental health care across the Stamford area.
