Glass Fragments Prompt Sweet Tea Recall
The Stamford-based beverage company reports there were 4 incidents of glass fragments found in the tea.
The Sweet Leaf Tea Company announced Thursday that it has voluntarily recalled Sweet Leaf Tea in 16-ounce glass bottles after receiving four complaints of glass in the beverage.
The company, which is a subsidiary of Stamford-based Nestle Waters North America, announced the recall “out of an abundance of caution because of the possible presence of glass fragments. This was the result of glass breakage during the filling process,” the company said in an announcement.
Consumers could potentially be cut or injured if ingested. The company has received four complaints of glass in the product, however, no injuries have been reported.

The voluntary recall is limited to specific production codes of Sweet Leaf Tea, that were distributed between Feb. 27 and Dec. 6.

- Sweet Leaf Tea Raspberry
- Sweet Leaf Half and Half Lemonade Tea
- Sweet Leaf Tea Original
- Sweet Leaf Tea Green Tea w/Citrus
- Sweet Leaf Tea Peach
- Sweet Leaf Tea Mint & Honey
Consumers who have any of the glass products with the affected date codes should not drink the product, can contact the Sweet Leaf toll-free number 1-877-832-5323, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST for replacement product, or return the product to the store of purchase for a refund.
The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the company said.
