ID Released Of Pedestrian Killed In Vehicle Crash: Stamford Police

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on the night of Nov. 8, according to police.

STAMFORD, CT — Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle last weekend as Nelly Ruiz, 54, of Stamford.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 8.

A 2016 Nissan Altima, driven by a 30-year-old Stamford resident, was heading southbound in the area of 996 High Ridge Road when it struck Ruiz, who was crossing High Ridge Road westbound, according to police.

Ruiz was taken to Stamford Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and she was pronounced dead in the early morning of Nov. 9.

The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators, police said Sunday, noting there were no marked crosswalks in the section of High Ridge Road where the crash occurred.
