Mayoral Candidate William Tong Details Campaign Fundraising

The state representative says he's raised roughly $132,000 since he announced his candidacy.

The following is a release from Stamford Mayoral Candidate William Tong:

William Tong, Democratic candidate for Mayor of Stamford, today announced his first quarter fundraising results. The campaign reported raising $132,647 since Tong announced his candidacy on February 4, 2013.  A total of 288 supporters contributed in amounts ranging from $25 to $1,000. The campaign has retained $104,788 in cash on hand.

"This has been a solid first fundraising quarter for our campaign," said Tong. "Going in, we knew that it would be an uphill battle given the crowded Democratic field. We are encouraged by the enthusiasm and support we’ve earned, and the overwhelmingly positive response we’re receiving to my message that together, we can build a better future for all of Stamford."

"Over the coming months we will continue to work hard to share my vision for Stamford’s future, build a strong, grassroots organization and raise the funds necessary to run a competitive campaign," Tong added. "I will work tirelessly to earn the nomination of the Democratic Party and the support and confidence of Stamford voters."

Tong was first elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives – 147th District, representing parts of Stamford and Darien, in 2006. He's been re-elected three times since, including this past November. He is House Chairman of the Banks Committee and a member of the Judiciary and Energy and Technology committees. He is Of Counsel at Finn Dixon & Herling LLP, a Stamford based law firm, where he practices in the area of commercial litigation. He and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Stamford with their three children, 6-year-old Eleanor, a kindergartner in the Stamford Public Schools, 4-year-old Penelope and son Sasha, who is 22-months old.
