In Memoriam: Carmella Rose 'Babe' Montanaro
The lifelong Stamford resident passed away Nov. 11 at the age of 93.

Carmella Rose (Babe) Montanaro, a resident of Stamford, died November 11 at Notre Dame Nursing Home in Norwalk, of natural causes. She was 93.
She was surrounded by her children and went peacefully. She was married to Ralph F. Montanaro who predeceased her on May 1, 1976.

She is survived by her three children, daughter Mary Louise Iovino and her husband Mike; daughter, Joann Andronaco and her husband Larry and her son, Vito A. Montanaro and his wife Linda. She had six grandchildren, Gina LaFerlita, Michael B. Iovino, Mark Montanaro, Greg Montanaro, Larry Andronaco and Eric Andronaco. She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Dominick and Frank LaFerlita, Michael and A.J. Iovino, Cole and Jack Montanaro, Ava and Gianna Montanaro.
Born in Stamford on November 25, 1921 with her identical twin sister Susie Viggiano who predeceased her on December 23, 2014.

She was a lifelong resident of Stamford who worked as a care-giver for many years. She was blessed with many friends who helped her enjoy Cummings Beach in Stamford for many summers. She also loved cooking for her family and friends. Especially her famous “Italian meatballs.” Her smile and happy personality will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 14, at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien. Relatives and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford on Friday, November 13, from 3 - 7 PM.
