Evan, in his brief but beautiful life of 16 years managed to bring warmth and compassion to his family, his friends, his school, his community, and all he touched. Born and raised in Stamford, Evan was a student at the Academy of Information Technology & Engineering, where he excelled academically, and was part of the fabric of the school’s programs and campus life. He leaves behind his treasured schoolmates who share his life.
Much like his parents, Evan enjoyed the outdoors, and hiking, lacrosse, and other sports, and was constantly in motion to another game, event, project or social gathering. He spent his summers, at Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camps in Copake, New York, where his parents had met. Last season, he was a stellar Leader-in-training, where he brought his unique love and friendship, as in everything he did.

His life was enriched by his devoted parents Holly and Howard Hyman, his brother Casey, his grandparents Bob and Carole Horowitz and Sheldon and Marilyn Hyman, and uncles, aunts, and scores of friends and family who were a witness to the marvelous things he achieved.
He adored his family. Evan’s brief life was marked by the loss of his wonderful father, Howard, to cancer in 2008. Through the love and tireless devotion of his mother, Holly, he grew into a fantastic human being. In response to his father’s illness and terminal care at Hospice, Evan raised money at his elementary school through a cupcake sale. Acts of compassion and kindness were the hallmarks of his life.
He will be remembered not as he died, but as he lived; full of life, love, humor, adventure and friendship.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, at 10 a.m. at Sinai Temple, 458 Lakeside Drive, Stamford.
Arrangements under the direction of Shippan’s Thomas M Gallagher Funeral Home.
