Frances ‘Borgia’ Paulsen, a long-time Stamford resident, passed away January 8 at home with her family at her side.
Frances worked as an registered nurse with St Joseph’s Hospital and Eagle Towers in Stamford.

Mrs. Paulsen, “Borgia”, grew up on a farm in Springfield, KY and was the middle child of 11.
She enjoyed crafts, decorating, music and walking. Her proudest times were when she traveled overseas to Saudi Arabia where she worked as a nurse and met her husband.

Frances is predeceased by her husband of 35 years, William P. and her parents, James Thomas Edelen Sr. and Stella Hill Edelen.
She is survived by one daughter Paula of Arlington, VA, and one son John and his wife Ann–Britt of Park Ridge, NJ. She also is survived by 2 grandchildren, Cristina and Victoria Paulsen; her sister MaryJo Hamilton and brothers Julian, Bobby, Fred, and Larry Edelen.
Her family tree dates back to the Revolutionary War and the early colony of Maryland.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12 PM on Thursday, January 14, at Long Ridge Union Cemetery, Erskine Road, Stamford.
Arrangements are entrusted to Shippan’s Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford.
