Grace Guroian, born October 26, 1925 in New York City passed away on January 22, 2016 of complications due to congestive heart disease.
She was predeceased by her husband, Armen Guroian; a sister, Stella Shamlian; and her parents Mgrditch and Zabel Keosaian, survivors of the Turkish genocide of Armenians during WWI.

She is survived by her two sons, Vigen and Michael, her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Grace worked as tax preparer and a bookkeeper for several firms in Stamford. Later, she became assistant comptroller at States Marine, Park Avenue, New York. She was active for many years in Stamford government affairs as a leader of homeowner civic associations, served for three terms on the Board of Representatives and was narrowly defeated as a candidate for the State Senate in 1984. She was also a Treasurer of the International Armenian Relief Society (Red Cross).

But more than all of these things, Grace was a mother of indefatigable determination to launch her sons into happy and successful lives and to see to it that her grandchildren received the best educations possible. Grace remained a wellspring of compassion, intellect, and wit up until the moment our merciful Lord took her into his loving embrace.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at St. Gregory the Enlightener Church, 1131 North St., White Plains, NY, with a funeral service to commence at 11:15 a.m. A burial service and interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 130-04 Horace Harding Expressway, in Flushing, NY.
