In Memoriam: John Bukowski

The Stamford resident passed away Jan. 15 at the age of 86.

John Bukowski of Stamford, 86, died peacefully in his sleep January 15, 2016.

John was born in Maniowy, Poland on November 14, 1929, and moved to the USA in 1960 along with his family.

He was a veteran, an avid gardener and was known for being a “Jack-of-all-trades”. He worked as mechanic and auto body repair man and could always be found tinkering under the hood of a car or fixing something or working around the house. He was known to be spotted all over Fairfield County riding his bicycle, up until the age of 80.

John was predeceased by his wife, Katherine Meleszko Bukowski and his son Joseph Bukowski.

John is survived by his two daughters, Mary C. Bukowski and Janina “Jonah” A. Miller, both of Stamford. He is also survived by his grandson, Joshua M. Miller and his wife, Christine L. Miller, of Stratford; along with many extended family members throughout the USA, Canada and Poland.

Mr. Bukowski’s parents were Antoni & Regina Bukowski and John’s brothers and sisters are Albina Koszarek, Stefania Ciurek, Kazimierz Bukowski, Ludwig Bukowski and Jozef Bukowski.

The Bukowski family welcomes all friends and family to his musical and Catholic memorial service at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford, on Tuesday, January 19. Visitation will be from 10 am to 11am with his service to begin at 11am . He will then be laid to rest alongside of his wife at St. John’s R.C. Cemetery in Darien, in a Christian ceremony.
