In Memoriam: Marie A. Deragon
The lifelong Stamford resident passed away Jan. 5 at the age of 91.

Marie A. Deragon, 91, of Stamford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.
She was born in Stamford on April 17, 1924 to the late Frank and Adeline Capazzo Accurso.

Marie was a former employee of Pitney Bowes, and it was there that she met her future husband Harry. She also was a Teacher’s Assistant with the Stamford Public Schools for over twenty years, a member of the St. Gabriel RC Church Senior Circle and the Church’s Prayer Line. Marie also found the time to volunteer for Meals on Wheels and knit scarves and hats for the needy.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Kathryn Belmont and her longtime companion George Talboys of Stamford, Mary Waterbury and her husband Ralph of Oxford, CT, her loving son Vincent Deragon and his partner Michael LeViness of Yonkers, NY, six grandchildren Steven, Michael and Lauren Belmont, Kristen Prehm, Bryan and Jennifer Waterbury, as well as one great-grandson Landon Belmont.

Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband Harry J. Deragon in 2008 and a sister Ann Summa.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford on Saturday, January 9, at 9:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Gabriel RC Church, 914 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, January 8, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marie’s memory to The Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, P.O Box 489, Wilton, CT 06897 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
