In Memoriam: Yvette Prior-Crofoot

The l one-time Stamford resident passed away Jan. 3 at the age of 90.

Yvette Prior-Crofoot, 90, born January 5, 1925 passed away on January 3, 2016.

She was the daughter of Yves and Henriette Robic of Paris, France.

Yvette came to the U.S. after World War II to marry a U.S. GI she had met while he was stationed in Paris and settled in Stamford, where she raised her family.

She is survived by Joseph Gregory, her beloved companion of 38 years, and her children, Douglas Prior-Crofoot and wife, Susan; Yvonne Lash and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Emily Prior-Crofoot; Christopher Lash; Amy Fater and husband, Timothy; and great grandchild, Emma Fater.

Yvette loved all things French. The highlights of her life included traveling back to France, especially time spent in her beloved Paris, and the birth of her grandchildren and great grandchild. She loved gardening and visiting formal gardens.

Yvette worked as a secretary in Paris and again, later, for the FSAB in Norwalk for 20 years. She also worked as a substitute French teacher.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 8 at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford, from 11am to 12pm, with a prayer service to commence at 12pm. Interment will be private.
