Michelin-Recommended Soup Dumpling Restaurant To Open Soon In Stamford
The opening represents the brand's first Connecticut location.
STAMFORD, CT — Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, the highly-acclaimed Shanghainese restaurant concept known for its Michelin-recommended soup dumplings, will open its first Connecticut location to the public on June 15 at Stamford Town Center, 100 Greyrock Place.
"We are honored to be able to bring authentic soup dumplings to Connecticut," said restaurant CEO Eddie Zheng in a prepared statement. "More than just a place to eat, we hope Nan Xiang becomes a welcoming space where families can gather, share traditions, and enjoy a warm, lively dining experience in the heart of Fairfield County."
The restaurant will hold a grand opening event on June 14, and then open to the public on June 15.

Known for their paper-thin dough and savory broth, every soup dumpling at Nan Xiang is made from scratch using fresh ingredients and centuries-old culinary techniques.
The new Stamford location will serve Nan Xiang’s signature crab and pork soup dumplings, which feature delicate crab meat and golden crab roe blended with the pork filling.

Guests can also expect specialty offerings, including the Lucky Six Doup Dumplings, which come with the chef’s selection of six different natural colors and flavors, as well as the Three Treasures Deluxe Sampler with watercolor swirl skins and gourmet ingredients.
Other signature soup dumpling orders of six are the chicken soup dumplings, truffle and pork soup dumplings, gourd luffa, shrimp and pork dumplings, scallop and pork soup dumplings, ham and pork soup dumplings, sea cucumber and pork soup dumplings, and abalone and pork soup dumplings.
Other menu options include the vegetable soup dumplings filled with a savory blend of bok choy, dried bean curd, and shiitake mushrooms, and rich, flavorful Taiwan sweet and sour short ribs, braised to perfection and finished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
Signature offerings showcase regional specialties such as Shanghai stir-fried rice cakes tossed with a choice of vegetables, pork, chicken, or seasonal seafood; crispy, flaky scallion pancakes; Shanghai-style wontons in a creamy peanut sauce; and fried dough sticks served with warm soybean milk.
Guests can enjoy comfort dishes like the pan-fried pork and crab meat buns, and indulge in desserts like the ube red bean bao, black sesame custard bao, pumpkin cake, and durian puffs.

The 8,200-square-foot restaurant will feature modern decor inspired by traditional Chinese design, an open kitchen allowing guests to see the dumpling-making process, a patio for outdoor dining, and seating for approximately 180 guests.
Stamford Town Center has seen an influx of new tenants recently, ranging from recreation destinations like Pickleball America, and Roller Land, a large indoor roller rink that's expected to open this summer, to restaurants like Puerto Vallarta and Terra Gaucha.
A spa and french fry franchise under the same ownership as the roller rink are also expected to open at the mall in the coming months.
Stamford Director of Economic Development Leah Kagan expressed excitement about Nan Xiang opening its doors soon.
"We are thrilled to welcome Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings to the Stamford Town Center," Kagan said in an emailed statement to Patch. "Their arrival marks an exciting addition to our city’s diverse culinary scene and reflects the growing vibrancy of our downtown."
Nan Xiang first opened in Flushing, Queens, N.Y. in 2006.
For nine straight years from 2009 to 2017, the restaurant was selected as a Michelin-recommended restaurant for Shanghainese cuisine. It has also been written up in publications such as New York Magazine, Gothamist and more.
There are existing Nan Xiang restaurants in New York City, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, with more locations planned for nearby White Plains, N.Y., New Jersey, Chicago, Delaware, Georgia and Maryland.
